Research and Exploration
I selected four distinct areas within my chosen topic of celebrating Hispanic heritage, ensuring each stamp conveyed a unique aspect of this rich cultural narrative.
- Indigenous Patterns (Tradition): Features intricate patterns that honor the rich history and artistic expressions of indigenous cultures.
- Papel Picado (Unity): Uses colorful papel picado to symbolize communal joy and connection during celebrations.
- Vibrance and Harmony (Community): Captures the lively spirit of Hispanic communities through music, dance, and festivals.
- Fruit Importation (Economic Influence): Highlights the economic contributions of Hispanic communities through significant fruits, celebrating their impact on America.

Elaboration & Iteration: Turning my ideas into vector-graphics
Designing within the small stamp format (1.5” × 1”) was a key challenge, as it limited the level of detail that could be included. To ensure legibility, I regularly previewed my designs at scale and refined patterns and illustrations as needed. Incorporating Art Nouveau elements required additional simplification, pushing me to distill shapes and ornamentation while preserving the style’s signature flowing lines and organic forms, allowing each design to remain visually impactful despite the size constraints.
To create cohesion across the set, I initially planned for a single border color, but found it didn’t suit every design. I ultimately introduced varied border colors, allowing each stamp to highlight key details while still feeling unified as a campaign.

The names on each envelope represent significant Hispanic figures who have contributed to the prosperity of the Hispanic community in the U.S. The addresses correspond to landmarks, monuments, or locations that celebrate and highlight the importance of each individual.

Promotional Carousel
The final deliverable was an Instagram carousel post designed as if it were published by the official USPS account, promoting the Forever Stamp campaign for public purchase. The carousel functions as a digital interface, allowing users to scroll through images that highlight each stamp individually as well as the collection as a whole.

Reflection
Reflecting on this project, I feel a deep sense of accomplishment in bringing together my passion for design and cultural representation through the stamp campaign. The positive feedback from my peers reinforced the effectiveness of my concept, while their constructive criticism highlighted areas for growth and refinement. I learned the importance of attention to detail, especially in printing and layout, and I appreciate how collaboration and critique can enhance the final outcome. This experience not only deepened my understanding of design principles but also strengthened my commitment to celebrating cultural heritage through my work.
